This is the fourth year of my six year stint of two years as vice-president followed by two years as president and will end with two years as past president. Often the president issues a challenge during their last year and I would like to propose the following challenge to the members of the Mayflower Quilters Guild recognizing both our Mayflower name and our 50th anniversary.
CHALLENGE: Make any quilted item using the instructions below for a mayflower block. Make as many or as few mayflower blocks as you wish in any colour combination you choose. The instructions I have provided will produce a 6" finished on point block but feel free to upsize or downsize the block to suit your project. You can combine other blocks as well and in some fashion indicate that your creation is in recognition of our 50th anniversary, even if it is as simple as including it on your quilt label.
I plan on making a quilted item as well and our projects must be completed for the May 13th 2024 Annual Meeting of the Mayflower Quilters Guild which will be the last meeting I will chair as president. That gives us all 8 months to make our quilted items and it would be great to see a record number of participants!
